Set in the 1960's a young man named Jake Edwards, who on the way to his weight training club is crashed into by a phenomenon from a far off galaxy. The phenomenon, which he shortens to Phen, gradually passes on to Jake a number of powers.

He has to learn to use these in subtle ways, as he is not allowed to physically harm any fellow human beings, even if certain humans may deserve ill treatment.

Their relationship now established, book 2 sees the duo face even more challenges; further testing their shared powers!
