Visa allaI loved this series so much and I'm so excited for the final book but I also don't want it to end!
I enjoyed Reckless more than Powerless, but it still didn’t consume me the way some other books have. That said, it was a solid sequel with plenty of tension, action, and romance to keep me entertained. The story picks up right where we left off, and I appreciated how much the characters grew in this instalment. The stakes are higher, the betrayals sting a little more, and the emotions hit harder. The dynamic between the main characters was a highlight for me—angsty, complicated, and filled with moments that made me feel. That said, there were times when Payden and Kai’s constant refusal to admit their feelings started to feel a bit repetitive and even frustrating. Their back-and-forth, drawn-out tension felt like it slowed the pace a bit and, honestly, became a little annoying after a while.Lauren Roberts’ world-building remains strong, and I enjoyed getting more depth to the political tensions and conflicts. There were a few twists that landed well, though some felt a touch predictable. The pacing was good overall, but I did feel a slight disconnect at times, which stopped it from being a completely gripping read. While it didn’t have the all-consuming magic I’ve found in other books, Reckless was a definite improvement over Powerless and kept me engaged until the final page. It’s full of action, angst, and morally grey moments that fans of the series will love.
