Recensioner

Listen, I said this about the movies and I'm gonna say it about the books, too...I don't care about Frodo's journey. I just don't. I'm so invested in the journey of the others, it's fun and exciting and interesting. But when it goes back to Frodo's part... it's just so boring to me and it feels like it drags on and on. I don't know why I feel this way. I don't hate Frodo or Sam.Quite the opposite, really. Their friendship warms my heart and makes me smile. I adore how much Sam cares about Frodo. I can feel the bond, the love, the warmth between them. It's the strong kind of friendship that can't be broken, the kind that gives me hope. And yet... I just can't bring myself to be interested in their part of the story. It's so strange to me since Frodo has the most important bit. He is the "chosen one," the main character who can save everyone. Yet his journey is just boring to me.Also, the part where Gandalf confronts Wormtongue and the king felt lackluster. It lacked the power such a scene should have possessed. Maybe I'm just biased because the movie scene was epic as hell. Maybe you can't even take a book scene and make it have that much punch, or maybe it was the narrator's fault. I don't know.Speaking of the narrator, I think he did a really fantastic job here. His different voices are so well done that I thought this book had a full cast. I kept forgetting it's just one guy lol Another epic book by an epic author.
