夜の性風俗ガイドを依頼してきたアメリカ人・フランクの顔は奇妙な肌に包まれていた。その顔は、売春をしていた女子高生が手足と首を切断され歌舞伎町のゴミ処理場に捨てられたという記事をケンジに思い起こさせた。ケンジは胸騒ぎを感じながらフランクと夜の新宿を行く。97年夏、読売新聞連載中より大反響を引き起こした問題作。読売文学賞受賞作。

This really is a book of two halves, which hinge around one significant (and disturbing) event. I don't really know what to say about this book. It's deeply unsettling and creeps under your skin to stay, long after you've closed the book. I think it'll need a reread in the future.
