In a world where societal rules dictate the number of children families can have, Luke Garner has lived his life in the shadows, hidden from sight as an illegal third child. For twelve long years, he has known the constraints of fear and isolation, feeling like a ghost in the very world he longs to be part of. However, everything changes when he discovers a group of other hidden children like himself, seeking to carve out a life beyond the suffocating laws of their oppressive society.
As Luke navigates this precarious new existence, he grapples with questions of identity, belonging, and the morality of their plight. The tangled relationships and the looming danger of being discovered ignite a fierce struggle within him. He must confront his past and the harsh realities surrounding his existence while fighting for a future where he can finally be free and stand alongside his peers.
