"Best Friends" is a story about a pet dog and a new baby, and learning that there is love enough for everyone to share. It is a picture book, aimed at preschoolers and first time readers. It tells a story in a non-threatening, friendly way about how Shortstop was a happy pup and then the new baby arrived. He didn't think Mommy and Daddy would have enough love for the baby and for him, too, but he was wrong.
