Don't Fall Off the Carousel Horse

Shane Carpenter is known only to a few in his position as an end-negotiator for the United States government. There was never a job description, nor is he classified as an employee. When he becomes the only solution to problems involving national security, his services are requested.
He has lived a life of disciplined precision, viewing the world primarily through the cross hairs of a riflescope. He has not allowed himself the luxury of love, with the exception of Maria, a child whom he salvaged from an unthinkable nightmare in the Andes Mountains, and raised as his own daughter.
Having grown tired of the demands placed on him, Shane decides to settle down in the quiet abandon of his secret life. He has hired Erica Banfield, a well-known interior designer, to restore as his residence, an old church, into a sanctuary from the outside world. This, however, is not his only interest in the beautiful designer. Carpenter has a long-standing vengeance against the Banfield family, of which Erica is unaware, and his only ambition at the time is to even the score.
John Trafton, a top government official has other plans for Carpenter, however. He has become entangled with a small-scale activist group known as the PGB, the Patriots of Great Britain. The PGB has threatened to destroy all Royal assets in a move to relieve the British taxpayers of a monarchy they can no longer afford.
Trafton, playing both ends against the middle, finds himself in a vulnerable position, teetering on the edge of being found out by both the PGB and the US government. His only hope is Carpenter.
When Carpenter flatly refuses the unsanctioned government operation, he is threatened with the deportation of his daughter. Forced into surrendering his services to save Maria, he becomes entangled in a plot that places Erica in the middle of an International skirmish.
Though his original objective for Erica was less than chivalrous, Shane never intended the almost complete undoing of the young woman’s life. Skye, Erica’s only daughter, is led to London on false pretenses. She soon discovers that she is bait in the hands of terrorists, who must eradicate Carpenter to complete their mission.
Shane finds himself in uncharted territory as he attempts to negotiate an end to the wake of destruction he has imposed on Erica and her daughter. For the first time he is forced to think with his heart, not his rifle.
