描述

In a world where gods and mortals intertwine, the Hematoi stand as a unique lineage shaped by their divine heritage. These beings, born from the unions of gods and mortals, hold a complex place in society, especially the offspring of two pure-blooded Hematoi, who possess extraordinary powers. At the heart of this world lies a young woman caught between her duty and her desire for freedom—a half-blood, navigating the treacherous realms of loyalty, love, and the looming threat of the past.

As she grapples with her identity, the young protagonist finds herself in a dangerous game of power and betrayal. The lines are drawn between the various factions, each with its own agenda, and she must rely on her wits and allies to survive. The struggles of being a half-blood grant her a perspective that challenges the very foundations of the Hematoi legacy, revealing secrets long buried.

Surrounded by a rich tapestry of friendships and rivalries, she is faced with choices that will shape her future and the future of all Hematoi. With every decision weighing heavily on her shoulders, she discovers the strength within herself to rise above the challenges, learning that love and sacrifice often go hand in hand in this tumultuous world.

I really enjoyed this book. I could kind of guess where it was going to go but I still enjoyed it. I hate the rules their world has and that's the whole point, I guess. I feel for Alex. In just a few short months, her world is completely torn apart. After her mother's death, she's forced back into a world her mother wanted to keep her from. When Alex meets with the oracle and hears her vague description of Alex's future, I had a pretty good idea where this was going. Even more so when Seth is introduced. It becomes pretty easy to match the oracles words with the two guys around Alex. I don't normally like love triangles but in cases like this, when it is clear who she will be choosing, I can tolerate them. But it still bothers me whenever the main character is close with the guy she ultimately won't choose. So far, that hasn't happened yet but I have a feeling it will, going by what he implies at the end. But there is only one way to find out and I know it is going to tear me up inside. Never liked seeing two characters who are obviously meant for each other being with other people. Never sat well with me. Hopefully I won't have to suffer through that for too long.
