I am absolutely dumbfounded by the plot twist at the end! "WTAF!" was my immediate reaction. Was it the best book I've ever read? No. Was it the best written book of the year? No. But did I have a great time reading it? ABSOLUTELY!! After dealing with a reading slump and some heavy, emotional reads, this fun ride was exactly what I needed.I had a few critiques while reading, but by the time I reached the ending, I realised those choices might have been entirely intentional to pull off the twist. The world-building feels sparse, and even though it's written in the first person, we don't get a lot of internal thoughts or deeper emotions from the FMC. You can definitely feel that something is missing - but if that withholding was a deliberate setup for the twist, I really hope book two expands the world and enlightens us on what is actually going on!
