描述
Azure is the best at what he does, and what he does is work for the Keres corporation as a fixer, with the occasional protection job here and there, like this new gig, protecting an extremely wealthy older woman from people just like him. However, even with his advanced cybernetic upgrades Azure is on the backfoot as wave after wave of assassins come after his client. New York Times bestselling author James Islington’s first science fiction novel is filled with the clever twists that made The Will of the Many a beloved bestseller and Booktube favorite. With Scion Islington has forged a gritty future that evokes the best of his cyberpunk and anime influences in a science fiction thriller.

5/5 ⭐️James Islington is ridiculously good at dropping you into a world already in motion and trusting you to figure it out as you go. Scion throws technology, terminology, social structures, and history at you through context, so the world builds itself naturally around the story instead of stopping for explanations. Azure’s voice is fantastic, the dialogue is sharp and genuinely funny, and the pacing basically never lets up. Even in barely 250 pages, Islington manages to layer in mysteries, moral questions, and those carefully planted details that make you immediately start questioning what you think you know. Different beast from his massive fantasy books, but still unmistakably Islington, and I absolutely blazed through this book in one sitting
