My Rating: ★★★☆☆"False Start" by Piper Rayne, independently published on October 19th, 2022, offers a glimpse into the world of Lee Burrows and a college girl's fantasy. As part of the Kingsmen Football series, this novella navigates the dynamics of attraction, academic assistance, and hidden truths. The plot revolves around the intriguing premise of a quiet introvert catching the eye of the campus's popular quarterback, Lee Burrows. The reviewer appreciates the well-written characters and the development of a storyline that serves as an engaging introduction to the series. The initial connection through a biology class sets the stage for a flirtatious turn of events, leading to study sessions that take an unexpected turn. While the novella successfully captures the essence of a fantasy come true, the reviewer assigns it a 3-star rating. The rating is attributed to the novella's nature as a snippet into the Kingsmen Football series. The reviewer acknowledges its quality within the novella format but suggests that it may not warrant a higher rating due to its brevity and the anticipation of more substantial content in the series. The conclusion of the novella leaves room for the series to evolve, leaving readers intrigued about what lies ahead for the characters. The reviewer's nuanced assessment recognizes the novella's strengths while maintaining a realistic expectation for its role as an introductory piece within a larger narrative. In summary, "False Start" serves its purpose as a novella, laying the groundwork for the Kingsmen Football series. Piper Rayne's storytelling skills shine through, offering readers a taste of the characters and plot dynamics, ultimately leaving them eager for more in the upcoming installments of the series
I absolutely loved False Start! I could relate to Shayna's awkwardness when she was around Lee as it's something that I've experienced myself. I can't wait to start the next book in the series and find out what happens between Lee and Shayna. *I received an audiobook code from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.
