描述
Set against the harrowing backdrop of World War II, the story unfolds through the innocent eyes of Bruno, a nine-year-old boy whose life is irrevocably changed when his family moves to a desolate house near a concentration camp. Isolated and confused, Bruno finds himself grappling with the strange new environment that surrounds him, leading to a deep yearning for friendship and understanding.
His curiosity sparks an unlikely bond with a boy named Shmuel, who lives on the other side of a barbed-wire fence. While Bruno wears the striped pajamas of a child untethered by the horrors of the world, Shmuel's existence is starkly different, marked by hardship and suffering. As their friendship blossoms in secret, Bruno’s naivety collides with the grim realities of the life that Shmuel endures.
The story explores themes of innocence, friendship, and the consequences of prejudice, painting a poignant picture of how the untainted lens of childhood views the complexities of human morality. With each encounter, Bruno's perception of friendship and loyalty is challenged, illuminating the stark contrasts between their lives.
Ultimately, the narrative serves as a powerful reminder of the innocence lost to the darkness of war, leaving readers with profound questions about humanity, choice, and the impact of societal divides. Through Bruno's story, the exploration of innocence amidst tragedy resonates long after the final page.

Watched the film and found it emotional but was a great film, wanted to read the book to see if it added any more to the story which it didn’t but wow it was like hearing the story all over again even tho I knew what happens in the story. Such a brilliant book :)
