描述
'The Hive' established Cela as an author of exceptional talent, drawing a portrait of post-Civil War Madrid that remains unrivalled.
Renowned for his brutal cynicism and capacity for provocation, Cela depicts his society in everyday scenes. From café, to brothel, to the streets themselves, this is a world of illusion, deceit and frustration. 'The Hive' is an exceptional picture of the individuality of a city and its inhabitants.
