In the depths of post-Soviet Moscow, a hidden world pulses beneath the surface, where the forces of light and darkness engage in a silent battle for control. Dark entities lurk in the shadows, manipulating events to suit their insidious agendas. As night falls, the watchful Eyes keeping vigil over the city reveal the complexities of their existence, full of betrayals, alliances, and ancient rivalries.

Amidst this supernatural struggle, the protagonist grapples with his role within the intricate dynamics of the night. He is part of a secret society dedicated to maintaining balance, yet personal desires and the haunting realities of his past often blur the lines of duty and moral ambiguity. Each encounter exposes the intricacies of human-like emotions responding to otherworldly dilemmas.

With an atmosphere thick with suspense, this tale interweaves themes of sacrifice, power, and the quest for redemption. Readers traverse a landscape rich in cultural nuances while facing the timeless question: what does it truly mean to be a part of the light or the dark? This riveting journey beckons those daring enough to explore the depths of a city where the night never sleeps.

A book about the light and the darkness. Sergei Lukyanenko explains in a wonderful story that the world does not exist in white and black, but that there is a lot of grey in our world, that we need to accept. I recommend this book to everyone who loves such fights between light and dark. An interesting story about love, authority, and believing in yourself. A good book for rainy nights
