描述

In a world where survival hinges on cunning and grit, Matt Dinniman crafts a compelling tale that immerses the reader in the tumultuous landscape of despair and hope. The narrative unfolds in a grim setting where the characters are faced with insurmountable odds, pushing them to their limits while forcing them to confront their own inner demons. As they navigate treachery and the unrelenting grind of existence, their relationships become fragile yet deeply nuanced, revealing the complexities of loyalty and betrayal.

Dinniman’s prose captures the essence of a struggle that feels all too real, threading tension through each chapter and building an atmosphere thick with suspense. The protagonist grapples with the weight of their choices, making readers reflect on the concept of fate versus free will. With each twist and turn, the story unveils layers of emotion, leaving a lasting impression of resilience amidst inevitable ruin.

These books aren't for everyone, (no book is), but seriously, if you haven't tried them, try them! (Start with the first book obviously) I highly recommend the audiobooks. I only have one more to listen to at the moment, and I was only listening to 30 minutes to an hour a day most days because I don't want it to "end". I'm already thinking I might just start at the beginning again immediately, or pretty quickly. There's so much packed in these guaranteed I'll pick up details I missed and/or forgot.

"you will not break me." - CarlWhen I started this series I had no idea what I was signing up for. I had no idea this character named "Carl" would become one of my favorite characters written. I had no idea that this silly story of a man wearing heart boxers and his cat running through a dungeon would end up making me ugly cry. I had no idea this book would be in my favorite books of all time. Yet, here I am, needing more of it. Matt, Thank you. 10/10.
