A murdered couple. A missing child. A detective whose past won’t stay buried.
Lisanne and Victor Griffin are found shot dead in their quiet village home. Their teenage daughter, Sarah, has vanished. Their toddler son is critically injured. There’s no sign of a break-in — but a creased, coffee-stained business card is discovered hidden in a drawer.
It bears the name Naomi Blake.
Naomi is stunned. She remembers Lisanne, once known as Thea Baldwin, who she’d helped escape an abusive marriage years earlier. Thea vanished into protective custody. So how did Naomi’s old business card end up in the home of the victims?
The police suspect Lisanne’s dark past has finally caught up with her. But Naomi isn’t convinced — especially when a shadowy figure from the same world resurfaces. A man who should have disappeared forever.
When another attempt is made on Sarah’s life, Naomi is forced to look again at a case that almost destroyed her. This time, there’s no badge to hide behind. Just the truth. And a killer who won’t stop until the past stays buried for good.
