描述
The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette’s touch is fatal. As long as she doesn’t hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don’t fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.
The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war – and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she’s exactly what they need right now.
Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.

查看全部This book was long overdue in my library, as I did not want to read it for so long. I just wish that I had not picked this up at all. I've tried really hard to like this book. Juliette's situation, her thoughts, and everything in between sometimes have such long descriptions that seem so flowery! Being descriptive is good; hence, figures of speech really do their job. HOWEVER, if it is repetitive and with such long descriptions throughout, IT WILL NOT BE THAT NICE TO READ.The characters feel too flat for me. I really couldn't remember anything aside from wishing not to finish this anymore. "All I ever wanted was to reach out and touch another human being not just with my hands but with my heart." This one struck me as I really felt bad for her. Not being wanted by anyone, yet longing to cling to hope and the desperation to touch anyone."I want to be the bird that flies away." I just hope that in the following books, she may be able to fly and get the freedom that she seeks. It’s just really weird for me how these two are her love interests. I get that they may have character development, but how can you pass everything that you have encountered and experienced with them as an impasse to finally choosing either one of them?
Really enjoyed rhis book. It kept my attention, and left me wanting more.
