This is the book equivalent of a fresh-baked chocolate chip cookie - so much nostalgia packed into every word.I probably read this book a dozen times as a pre-teen. It was my favorite (I owned the hard-back copy) and I thought Judy Bloom was a god. Revisiting this story as a 33 year old brought the story to light in new ways for me that I could have never understood at 12. But, also brought back all the uncertainty and difficulty of puberty and major life changes at a young age. My heart ached for Steph as she ate her feelings - I wanted to hug her and let her know it will be ok. If you've never read this, I highly recommend. If you read this as a adolescent, I recommend a revisit. It was like seeing some old friends and picking right back up where you left off. ❤️
