Devils

The point is, with DEVILS, that scene in the doctor’s office really did happen to me. The doc, who was a pretty good pal of mine, actually said I had a small implant near the joint of my left thumb. Showed it to me on an x-ray, said it was maybe an old piece of pencil lead; then he got interrupted by a phone call, came back and didn’t know what I was talking about, denied there was any such thing, looked at me like I was crazy. Somebody – maybe Decartes or Spinoza – goes on and on questioning How do we know what we know is really real? You gotta walk away from that sort of thinking or it can drive you crazy. Forget about it. Don’t worry about anybody else; you gotta blank yourself or you’ll end up in the nuthouse.
