I never knew there was a mystery connected with Greenport until Dr. Chapman spoke at our school assembly. He told us that a ship named the Acadia had been wrecked off the coast one foggy night, long, long ago. Some claim that ever since, the screams of the passengers can still be heard. They say that the glow from the flames of the dying ship carries a curse -- to this day.

So when my best pal, ESP McGee, invited me on an expedition to the waterfront to investigate the legend, I knew it would be no ordinary evening. He had a hunch that there was more to this mystery than met the eye, and I knew from past experience that McGee's hunches always led to adventure. What was really behind the strange lights? And what about the ominous rumbling by the deserted docks? Someone -- or something -- didn't want us snooping around and would do anything to keep us away. Would ESP's extraordinary powers solve what could be a supernatural case?
