描述
Vernon Lee wrote essays and poetry, but she is best known for her supernatural fiction. This is a murder mystery set in a castle near Stimigliano. After the murder the suspicion rested on the widow especially since she had the murdered killed by two servants in her bedroom. The murderer, before his death, declared that he had been tempted into killing his master because of the love promised to him by the future widow.
