描述
A plane crash on an isolated island catapults a group of schoolboys into a struggle for survival, thrusting them into an unwelcome realm devoid of societal norms. As their youthful camaraderie begins to unravel, the boys confront their own instincts and the darker elements of human nature. With no adults to provide guidance, their initial attempts to establish order quickly devolve into chaos. Leadership battles emerge, mirroring the primal instincts buried deep within them, each boy grappling with the pull of civility versus savagery.
In the absence of civilization's structure, the island transforms from a paradise into a battleground. Fueled by fear and desperation, the group fractiously divides, revealing how quickly innocence can be lost. The island’s lush surroundings become a haunting backdrop for their descent into barbarism, providing a stark contrast to the children’s initial dreams of adventure.
Through intricate character dynamics and vivid imagery, the narrative explores themes of power, morality, and the innate darkness lurking within humanity. The journey of these boys illustrates the fragility of order and the ease with which chaos can take hold, offering a profound commentary on the human condition amid the silence of an uncharted paradise.

So I read this in one sitting during high school during a red eye flight back home and actually enjoyed the story. Thought of giving it another go and now I can’t remember what I enjoyed so much about it. The last 20 or so pages were great. Maybe I just wasn’t in the right mindset for this book. I will say I liked the psychological aspect of the story though.

Really really good. Imagery was amazing and the book was so well written. Read for school and would totally do it again.
