Puck's Gambit

A trickster, a traveller, and a loner —that pretty much described me. But I was also a billionaire financier, a whiz with numbers, a Wall Street icon, and a sucker for a cute face. I was escaping my financial world to cause havoc, just like my favorite prankster Puck in ‘Midsummer Night’s Dream.’She was a menace behind the wheel; she was mouthy; she got under my skin—and to make matters worse, she was my boss. She had me doing manual labor on a construction build because she thought I was someone else; I let her think what she wanted. The problems in her construction company in Maine were complicated, but I had a few tricks up my sleeve. I had only to keep my heart safe and her body twenty feet away—piece of cake, right?But now I was drowning in Mackenzie Robertson. Damn! My internal dialogue should have kept me safe.
