描述

From New York Times bestselling authors Sarah Mlynowski, Lauren Myracle, and Emily Jenkins comes a new, offbeat series about a group of misfits who set out to prove that life on the other side of ordinary has its charms. It’s never easy when your magic goes wonky. For Nory, this means that instead of being able to turn into a dragon or a kitten, she turns into both of them at the same time—a dritten. For Elliott, the simple act of conjuring fire from his fingertips turns into a fully frozen failure. For Andres, wonky magic means he’s always floating in the air, bouncing off the walls, or sitting on the ceiling. For Bax, a bad moment of magic will turn him into a . . . actually, he’d rather not talk about that. Nory, Elliott, Andres, and Bax are just four of the students in Dunwiddle Magic School’s Upside-Down Magic class. In their classroom, lessons are unconventional, students are unpredictable, and magic has a tendency to turn wonky at the worst possible moments. Because it’s always amazing, the trouble a little wonky magic can cause . . .

fun story with some great moral lessonsI recently watched the Disney movie of this book series. It made me curious enough to see what the books were like. Even though I’m an adult and much older than the suggested age range for this book, I’m truly glad I read it. I would recommend this for any age to read. The story was uplifting and taught some amazing concepts. Ones that any person should share and do for themselves and for others in our world. Especially with all the vitriol and hate that has constantly been out in the public as of late. It also touched on some pretty hefty emotional items about families and not being wanted. Though it didn’t address this directly, it did show that you can have a choice family as well as a bio-family and sometimes that choice one is even better. It was a quick easy read, well thought out and reasoned. Left enough open enough as to allow for more stories in the same universe and its various characters. The Disney film was good but was limited, as I wasn’t sure how they’d do a second film easily because it all tied up so neatly at the end. This book and its series, I can easily see lasting for quite a number of books for all to enjoy.I’m definitely recommending this for my nephew to read, since he is near the age range it’s originally specified for. I hope he finds he as uplifting and fun as I did.
