The most requested mobile feature is here: home screen widgets, on both iOS and Android. September also brought your own tags and genres, and a way to set your own format and length on any book.

home-widgets

Home Screen Widgets

The mobile app now has three widgets, on iOS and Android.

Currently Reading shows the book you're reading and how far along you are. Start a reading timer or update your progress straight from your home screen, and if you have several books on the go, tap through to the next one.

My Shelf comes in two styles. One puts your books spine out on a wooden shelf, the other lays the covers out in a neat grid. Pick which shelf it shows and how it is sorted.

Every widget has its own theme. Leave it on Auto to follow your device, or pick from more than twenty, from Sepia and Sand to Midnight, Forest and Plum.

custom-tags-and-genres

Custom Tags and Genres

Create your own tags and genres and put them on any book in your library. A book can carry up to 5 genres and 10 tags of your own, and only you see them.

Each one gets its own page listing every book you gave it, where you can sort, search and filter. They also work as filters across your whole library, so "cozy", "book club" or "reread someday" is one tap away.

custom-format

Your Own Format and Length

When you add a book to a shelf, set the format, length or language you are reading it in. Useful when your copy doesn't match ours, like a paperback with a different page count.

It is saved just for you and visible only to you. The book itself stays the same for everyone else.

Other changes

There's a new Following Feed in the community section. When people you follow start a book, finish one, add something to their want-to-read shelf or write a review, it shows up there.

When you filter by more than one genre or tag, you can choose whether a book has to match any of them or all of them.

There's a new Dark Gray theme, on web and mobile, a softer alternative to Dark and True Black.

What's Next

The feature request board is where to tell us what to build. It's searchable, so have a look before you write yours up, and vote for the one that's already there if someone beat you to it.
