Reviews

My first reread and I love this series so much ❤️. Like it is easier to read it but if feels like the first time also. The small details and everything love it.

After reading the majority of 1st person narrative the past few years, I will admit that 3rd person is sometimes hard for me to get in to. So I will also begrudgingly admit that this story was easy enough to immerse myself in to… after side-eyeing the physical book and picking up the audiobook instead.Reading the ACOTAR series first probably didn’t help either, where I was expecting SJM’s other books to also be in that narrative. I am glad I finally bit the bullet and started this series. The storyline drew me in, and I’m left wondering what secrets still lay hidden beneath characters. I already have the second book checked out, so off I go to find out more.So far, ACOTAR is still my favorite, so we’ll see how the standing goes the further I get in to this series.

Ja weiß nicht, war süß und witzig gut, aber es war auch echt nicht so spannend.

I've loved the ACOTAR series by Sarah J Maas and there is a constant frenzy about the Throne of Glass series and how it is better than the adventures of the inhabitants of Velaris so I had got curious. After all, if so many people say something is good? You tend to believe them.Whilst I found Throne of Glass to be far easier to get into than the prequel I had previously attempted, I did wonder just why so many people say this is better than Maas's other works. I did find book one to be an enjoyable read, and one that I could get lost in whilst reading but it's not phenomenal (yet) but I'm also aware that the series doesn't get really good till book three so I will be sticking with the Throne of Glass series to find out if it is indeed worth the hype. (I really hope so as I have all the books!)I do agree with others (and I wish to clarify that I only read reviews after I have read a book because I don't want to be swayed one way or another) that Celaena Sardothien as an assassin is confusing as she's unafraid to show people what she's capable of. I would have thought, that an assassin shouldn't be so egotistical and extroverted in her mannerisms, even if it's stressed people think the infamous assassin is older than Celaena is. She also just seems mediocre in this book, I was waiting to see some kick-ass, fierce and determined young woman who can make a grown man cry because Maas does write phenomenal female characters (Bryce for one) but it wasn't there. Yes, she fights and she is clearly better than the men around her who are fighting to be the King's Champion but let's be honest? 95% of said men just think she's a girl who is lucky and she manipulates that for her advantage and I don't blame her doing that. It's all a little too predictable in that regard and to be honest, whilst yes, she is left with no option in taking part? It makes zero sense why anyone would want to make a renowned assassin become so well known. Everyone is going to recognise her going forward because she's going to be working for the King and not in the shadows...The world building is good, I think the characters need work in this book and I hope that they grow and become less one dimensional going forward. I enjoyed Throne of Glass, I really did but it just could have been more. There was so much potential that seemed to walk into the proverbial wall and promptly fade away and it infuriated me. But I have faith.... book two will give me hope for an improvement and less holes in the plot and predictability.

Estuvo bien.El libro tiene un montón de estereotipos y frases clichés que ya conocemos, pero cuando empiezas el libro teniendo esa idea en la mente, es muy rápido de leer y bastante entretenido.

I enjoyed this more than I expected. I loved the relationship development between Celaena, Chaol and Dorian. The action was a little predictable but it was still a fun read. But, WHAT ABOUT DORIAN?? The author made sure at the end to let us know how Celaena and Chaol feel about what happened and what is to come but nothing about Dorian, except he gave Celaena a few sad glances. He deserved at least 2 paragraphs to let us know what are his thoughts for the future.

(original rating 4.0)I read this book, I finished it I am done. I cannot believe I waited this long. But maybe it was for the better, I don't think I would have appreciated the story last year. This is really hard to rate because I had so many things that irritated me, and so many that I liked. I should start with the bad because that's what comes to be first then. How, in the H E double toothpicks, did all of our characters like reading!????? Like I guess for writing books you must have been a fan of reading them as well, but idk why it irritated me so much that three of the four characters we focused on liked reading. Like why? It's also such a simple thing that shouldn't annoy me but it does so much?? :,D I cannot explain why. Also HOW FREAKNG PRETTY is this girl? I can understand writing attractive characters, you can focus on it once or twice maybe when she dresses up to go to the Ball or from someone else's perspective, but not every single time like, please. This is also such a small thing that shouldn't annoy me but really does. And one thing I hate in books in hyping up their protagonists without writing any of it in their story. And I don't think this story did that, not entirely at least. We do get told a lot about her accomplishments from her past and it seems a bit weird and out of place, but we're also shown many scenes of her fighting and she certainly knows how to do that. I'll name this section of the review "Things I am Neutral About"Damn... Dorian and Nehemia saved this book. I don't even think we'll follow her that much in later books, it doesn't feel like it at least, but Nehemia was a joy to read about. No more comments, no more thoughts, she made me happy.Ah gods I really liked Dorian. Myabe it's something I have for princes, maybe it is that I genuinely really liked whenever he was around. I also extremely enjoyed the resolution at the end.Oh I also enjoyed the duel at the end, I really like battles okay?? And the magic system is very interesting, only if it were explained a little more. But alas.

I will never get over the relationship between Celaena, Chaol and Dorian ever.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Spice Rating: 🫑I have FINALLY read the first of the TOG series! I love anything written by Sarah J Maas and Throne of Glass was no exception. I only give this four stars, because I feel this series has so much room to get better, and I feel that in my bones.

I AM FINALLY FINISHED! It took me a year on and off!3 starsI like Aelin (yes I already know who she actually is. ha!) as the heroine. I don’t ship her with Dorian or Chaol. Honestly both of them needs to go away. Her friendship with Nehemia and Nox is everything. You really can tell that this is SJM first book because ACOTAR series has spoiled me.I guess I listen to the other books since everyone says they get better. It has never took me a year to read a book.Im so glad that I stop reading ToG last year and went to ACOTAR. I don’t think I would never read ACOTAR if I didn’t.
