In the icy grip of a relentless winter, the streets of Aberdeen become a chilling backdrop for a harrowing investigation. Detective Sergeant Logan McRae finds himself grappling with both the biting cold and the unthinkable crime that grips the community—a child killer is on the loose. As the snow blankets the city, the urgency of the hunt intensifies. McRae, battling his own demons and the unyielding pressure from his superiors, navigates an atmosphere thick with tension and fear.

As the investigation unfolds, each clue seems to lead deeper into a web of darkness that stretches beyond the immediate horror of the crimes. McRae must confront not only the chilling reality of the murderer stalking the streets but also the complexities of his team, making alliances in a world where trust is fragile and motives murky. The relentless winter embodies the icy emotions at play, pushing him closer to confronting the most sinister aspects of humanity.

This is set in Aberdeen not in Maryland but in Scotland. A city of grey buildings, snow and rain. Lots of rain. This book will bury the image of 'Sunset Song' STONE COLD DEAD! It is brilliant but 5 star brilliant? No. The introduction of Edinburgh is unnecessary (but that is my opinion).
