Autumn brings with it a blend of nostalgia and longing for the innocence of youth, especially for Autumn and Finn, two friends whose lives intertwined over the years. Their connection is palpable, underscored by shared memories and unspoken words. As they navigate the complexities of adolescence, the weight of 'what ifs' looms large—if only they had been together that pivotal night in August.
Autumn finds herself ensnared in a life filled with uncertainties, grappling with the challenges of growing up and the changing dynamics of friendship. She reflects on the moments that could have forged a deeper bond with Finn, questioning the choices that led them down separate paths. Their interactions are layered with nuance, rich in unfulfilled potential, as both characters are caught between friendship and something more.
As they drift through their senior year, the echoes of their relationship raise poignant questions about love, loss, and the fragile nature of timing. Autumn's internal struggles resonate deeply, capturing the bittersweet essence of youth—a reminder of dreams and missed opportunities that linger. Each decision draws them closer to an inevitable conclusion that neither of them can truly escape.
In the end, the story unfolds a tapestry of emotions woven with realism and heart, inviting readers to ponder their own 'what ifs.' The journey of Autumn and Finn serves as a mirror reflecting the painful beauty of growing up, the bittersweet nature of first love, and the haunting realization that some moments, once lost, can never be reclaimed.

This book broke my heart. I cried a lot after finishing the book, even some days later. I read this book and never expected such a plot twist. I loved the characters and I fell in love with the couple.
