Charity Shumway's debut novel captures the messy, exhilarating journey of young adulthood with a nuanced and heartfelt exploration of friendship, ambition, and self-discovery. Set against the backdrop of a vibrant college town, the narrative follows the lives of ten diverse young women as they navigate the often tumultuous waters of life after graduation. Each character brings her own unique set of dreams and challenges, revealing the complexities of modern womanhood in an era defined by both opportunity and uncertainty.
As they each grapple with the societal pressures of their early twenties, their stories intertwine in surprising ways. The novel deftly highlights the importance of connection and support among friends, showcasing how these relationships can be both a source of strength and a catalyst for growth. Shumway’s warm prose invites readers into a world where experiences—good and bad—shape the path to finding one's identity and purpose in an ever-changing landscape.

The usual chick-lit. Girl goes out to find herself, has boy problems, finds mentors, etc. Nothing new here.I found myself laughing out lout at the main character's easy way of letting herself be real with the audience; however, I also found myself annoyed with her at times. I guess I'll be staying away from this genre for a while.
