Descripción

After Devolution brings together a range of leading commentators to assess and challenge the first four years of Scotland's new parliament. The record of the parliament, the executive and the wider policy community will be addressed, and the question will be asked: have they lived up to expectations? Policy developments, the extent to which devolution has changed Scotland, and the future prospects for change are covered, as well as the issues relating to institutional politics.

The book is divided into six sections: The Contest of Ideas; Parliament, People and Politics; The New Structures of Devolution; Beyond the Mound; How Different is Scotland?; Different Visions of the Future.

Contributors include a diverse range of Scottish and UK writers and thinkers including James Mitchell, Iain MacWhirter, Philip Schlesinger, Will Hutton, Jeremy Paxman, Stuart Cosgrove. The book also features contributions from the leaders of the four main Scottish political parties on their visions of the future of the parliament.
