Love Unwritten

I love this book and everything about it. The relationship developed slowly and naturally. I also really liked the relationship between Ellie and Nico(mmcs son) they were so good together. I appreciate the ending with no third act break up. 

All I can say is, even though the story was beautiful, my heart goes out to the kid. It took me a while to read this but I have no regrets about finishing this.

My first lauren asher book, and oh wow!

Lauren asher has outdone herself with this one. I really loved this book, so much that i burnt my maggie while trying to finish this book simultaneously.
This is the second book in the Lakefront billionaires series.

Tropes : boss x employee, workplace romance, small town romance, billionaire romance.

Pacing : slow to medium.

Characters : i) Eleanor/ Ellie — Ellie is the sweetest girl, the way she loves nico, takes care of him, and makes sure that nico feels wanted had me melted. The book started slow, but it gradually grew on me. Ellie being Ellie, i don’t even know where to begin, because right now my mind is flooded with the whole book.
ii) rafael — rafa being the grumpy guy he is, i loved him, he’s soft underneath all that toughness, and strong exterior. He did grow on me too. 🥺

The plot — the plot was everything and more. Not even once did i feel like that the book was too long, it was perfect, miss lauren knew what she was doing. She captured all the moments of nico, Ellie and rafa. I loved the parts where nico had fun with rafa. The playful fights between them, nico picking hibiscus flowers and tucking them behind ellie’s ear, the way rafael apologized after firing Ellie over something that was not her fault fully. Ellie is so sweet, the way she takes care of nico, even making sure that nico is taken care of should something happen to rafael. Ellie had crush on rafael back in high school, but she never lets that get in her way of her job. She plays, fights, listens to nico as if her own. The best parts where nico is too smart for his age, and i love that boy. The bestest boy. 🥺 My pregnancy kink really loved this book too much. Nico loves Ellie more than Hillary,his biological mom, she always cancels her visits because she had something come up, while eliie outdoes herself with everything she does, and feels for nico. My girl cries everytime nico’s vision fades a bit, and rafael crying over finding out that nico has retinitis pigmentosa.
The story starts with Ellie finding out that her friend ava has won album of the year which Ellie had helped cowrite. Nico and rafael’s relationship isn’t close, which makes him jealous, but he fires her for not telling him that nico’s vision was getting black, when collapses in his room. There’s so much I wanna say, but now I’m forgetting everything. 😭 Rafael does apologise to Ellie and asks her to be nico’s nanny again, after nico throws a fit and rafa baby couldn’t see his son sad. The story has so many elements, ava and ellie’s friendship, rafael and Ellie’s relationship, their relationship with their respective parents. Ellie has the best parents, her step dad is such a sweetheart, i loved him, so much so because it was a nice change of character, this book was a package of fluff, and love, my dear heart didn’t have to eat chocolates, the book did it all for me. Ellie’s mom struggling through her divorce with her husband, and then healing and finding Ellie was close to Rafael’s situation. And i loved that reference too, the way julian and the munoz sisters teased them, and the family gatherings, oh it was all so sweet. Rafael was adopted by julian’s parents and he did his best to hide his pain, while living with them, making sure they didn’t feel sad, he kept pretending only for them to know about this pretense and allowing it anyway, where are my tissues? The two week trip to hawaii? Please the way, rafa took care of Ellie everytime she got anxious about flying, why rafa is so kind, might love this grumpy man.
I loved nico too, he made the love between rafa and Ellie tenfolds lovely.
Hillary can fuck off, and take ava and Darius with her, along with her to be husband.
The audacity she has to not visit her own son, giving excuses that she had to plan her wedding, this woman needs to fuck off the planet.

Darius and ava can too. Ava stealing ellie’s songs and taking all the credit? Ellie’s going to court and giving her a taste of her own medicine is top tier. Ellie not expecting money she got after winning the case, rather choosing to work herself is so sweet of her. Having a billionaire boyfriend and being a millionaire herself, after cole — helped her with building a case, and finding her a lawyer and wanting her to write an album for him, thank you cole. Also, nico and ellie’s shared love for formula - 1 cars, nico loving Ellie more than his toys and his love for superheroes, someone protect these two + Ellie packing everything nico would want on her trip to hawaii, uh, Ellie the girl you are, i can’t love you enough. This didn’t feel like a book, it pulled me toward it.
What I loved : the story, the plot. Everything. I ate this book, lauren ate this book. Need i say more?

What I struggled with : nothing.

This 612 pages of book was perfection, i loved it too much and connected to ellie’s habit of keeping a piece of mirror with her everytime she had the urge to cut is so me. The little notes with the boxes of gifts rafa gives Ellie was such a touching gesture, this man is not grumpy, he’s just a man who was hurt but has the biggest heart like his girl and son.
