I loved the first one so I was so, so excited for this book. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to my expectations. Caly was whiny and annoying. Her toing and froing between the two MMCs was messy and frustrating. Mendax started talking like Shakespeare and made me cringe so hard I could hardly take him seriously. The plot twist did get me. I was like "there's no way! She's done it again!" But overall I'm disappointed, with the cheapness of the characters, writing that reads like a first draft, and boring POVs of characters we don't care for. 2.75
