Description

In the quiet town of Fairview, a shadow looms over the seemingly perfect facade of high school life. The tragic story of Andie Bell, a beloved and stunning senior, sent shockwaves through the community when she was found murdered. Whispers and rumors spread like wildfire, leaving the town gripped by fear and suspicion. Though it was believed that her boyfriend, Sal Singh, was responsible, he died by suicide before he could clear his name, leaving lingering questions in the air.

Amidst this backdrop of darkness, Pippa Fitz-Amobi, a determined student, embarks on a quest to investigate the truth behind Andie’s death for her final project. Driven by curiosity and a sense of justice, Pippa dives deep into the tangled web of secrets surrounding the case. As she unearths hidden truths and connects the dots between past and present, she realizes that nothing is as it seems.

As Pippa delves deeper into the lives of Andie and Sal, she encounters unexpected allies and formidable adversaries, all while grappling with her own moral dilemmas. The tension escalates as she unravels layers of deception, revealing that the past often haunts the living in unanticipated ways. With her keen instincts and relentless drive, Pippa’s exploration uncovers shocking revelations that challenge everything she once believed about loyalty and innocence.

Caught between her safety and the pursuit of the truth, Pippa must navigate the dangers that come with digging too deep. In her journey, she learns that uncovering the truth can come at a price, as the shadows of Fairview threaten to swallow her whole. This gripping tale marries mystery with the quest for justice, leaving readers on the edge of their seats, wondering who, if anyone, can truly be trusted.

I couldn't put this book down! I started reading it when I had show week for theater and was reading it whenever I could. I finished it within six days. 10/10 would read again!

Absolutely brilliant! Pip’s investigation was clever, tense, and full of surprises. I couldn’t put it down—one of my favourite reads ever.

Okay, so this book was one hell of a roller coaster. The first half, in my opinion, dragged. A lot. I honestly found it difficult to get into but I preserved. The first half is also very nonsensical. A 17-year-old school girl decides to base her project on what is essentially a closed case despite there being nobody and expects to somehow do what the police haven't done in the 5/6 since the crime occurred. She goes as far as to even commit crimes, albeit small(ish) crimes, in the process which is funny to me. Ya know, considering she's trying to prove someone's innocence. All the evidence just seemed to fit conveniently into place and manages to fit perfectly together. However, in the second half. OH MY GOD this book SKYROCKETS! Yes, the ending is purely based on convenient and coincidental evidence but I was still shocked. The pace picks up and I wanted to continue reading. If you ask me, it gets wrapped up a little too neatly. You might as well slap a big, red bow on it. But I genuinely enjoyed reading this book in the end. Is this book believable? Not in the slightest but it's enjoyable and that's enough for me. First half - 1 ⭐️Second half - 3 ⭐️This is also the first book this year to make me cry so extra .5 stars for that! I don't normally cry at books so ya know. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

3.5 stars. I liked this book...but it paled in comparison to Missing Clarissa. Perhaps if I'd have read this before MC than I would've liked it better. I also found some things to be unbelievable, that diminished my overall enjoyment of the book. I didn't really like Pip but I also didn't dislike her, she just seemed to have no personality outside of this project and liking homework. Not sure if I will continue the series (especially since I know the last books has such mixed reviews).
