Description

When a respected investigator is summoned to London, his expertise in the dark minds of serial killers is put to the ultimate test. The bustling metropolis, known as the Big Smoke, becomes the backdrop for a chilling game of cat and mouse. As the body count rises, he must navigate the treacherous waters of urban crime, where every corner holds shadows and secrets. The pressure mounts as he realizes that he is not just hunting for a killer but also battling the demons of his past.

As he delves deeper into the investigation, the line between predator and prey blurs, forcing him to confront his own limitations and vulnerabilities. Each clue brings him closer to the truth, yet the stakes grow higher, testing his resolve and expertise. Amid the chaos, unexpected alliances and betrayals emerge, reminding him that in the world of crime, nothing is as it seems. The journey through London’s underbelly unveils a darker reality, where survival hinges on understanding the killer's mind.

A 5 star Ian Rankin book. Well deserved. Rankin ticks all the boxes plus a great finale and plenty of anti Scottish attitude from the London cops. One of them gets what coming to him and I cheered loudly at that bit.
