Hopeless was Sky’s story. Now, in Losing Hope, we finally learn the truth about Dean Holder.
Haunted by the little girl he couldn’t save from imminent danger, Holder’s life has been overshadowed by feelings of guilt and remorse. He has never stopped searching for her, believing that finding her would bring him the peace he needs to move on. However, Holder could not have anticipated that he would be faced with even greater pain the moment they reconnect.
In Losing Hope, Holder reveals the way in which the events of Sky’s youth affected him and his family, leading him to seek his own redemption in the act of saving her. But it is only in loving Sky that he can finally begin to heal himself.

Don’t misunderstand me though… they may be quick reads, but there is nothing EASY about them. While there’s always plenty of the “awwww” fluffy romance stuff, she manages to balance that with even more completely raw, gut-wrenching moments/themes. The only reason this gets 3 stars vs the 4 stars I gave Hopeless is that it doesn’t add much more to the original story so it felt almost like a reread. This one is Holder’s POV instead of Sky’s but most of it is the same scenes and the same dialogue. It felt more like a companion novel than a whole book in itself. I did love being in his perspective and felt it made the whole storyline of both books more complete. I loved the chapters showing what Holder went through before meeting Sky and the final few chapters that acted as an epilogue for the original story.
