Bo, as defined in the Xinhua Dictionary, refers to a minority ethnic group in southwestern China in ancient times. According to historical records, the ancient Bo people mainly lived in the mountainous regions of Gongxian County, Xingwen, Gao County in Sichuan Province, and Yanzhen and Zhaotong areas in Yunnan Province. The ancient Bo people's main base and most concentrated place of living was in Luobiao Town, Gongxian County today. In ancient times, Yibin was the Bo people's country, and during the Han Dynasty, Bo Dao County was established. The Bo people once created brilliant civilization in the mountainous regions of Sichuan and Yunnan. As early as 3000 years ago, the leader of the Bo people's ancestors helped the Zhou Dynasty overthrow the Yin Dynasty, and was granted a fief, k now as the Bo Hou.The area where they lived in the mountainous regions of Sichuan and Yunnan was called the Bo Hou country.
