Another CoHo I finished in one sitting and, yet again, another CoHo punch to the gut. Her stories never fail to make me cry and this one hit a little close to home. Sky and Holder have an intense connection from the moment they meet and realize their lives are more entwined than they could have imagined. The first half reads like a cute highschool romance but then the second half takes you on a heart wrenching ride. Another solid read from CoHo about self-discovery, raw childhood trauma, and knowing that sometimes knowing the truth can feel more hopeless than believing the lies.
Ben and Fallon meet and have an instant connection, but she’s moving across the country the same night. They both know that, at only 18, they have a lot of life to experience and dreams to chase before falling into such a big, all-consuming type of love. They agree to meet on the same day every year for 5 years with absolutely zero contact in between. Ben begins writing a novel about their unique love story… but there may be a heartbreaking plot twist for Fallon in store. I didn’t always care for Ben (some of his behavior was cringey and too aggressive) and there were definitely a lot of cheesy, eye roll moments but I liked the concept of the story. I didn’t guess the plot twist of their story and everything after that point is when it got really good for me.
Loved this book so much. It ripped my heart out, shoved it back in and ripped it out again in the best way. Heartbreakingly beautiful.
