Opis

Ling Ma’s latest collection of stories invites readers into a world where the mundane collides with the extraordinary. Through a series of vividly crafted narratives, she explores themes of disconnection and longing in a rapidly changing modern landscape. Each story serves as a portal into the surreal, revealing the precarious balance between everyday life and the unpredictable forces that shape it.

The characters in Bliss Montage grapple with their identities and aspirations, often facing dilemmas that reflect the chaos of contemporary existence. Ma's skill with language weaves together humor and melancholy, drawing readers into the lives of individuals who are navigating their own paths amid societal upheaval and personal crises.

With an incisive yet empathetic voice, Ma illuminates the complexities of human relationships, leaving a lasting impression that lingers long after the final page is turned. This collection stands as a testament to her ability to capture the essence of modern life, inviting readers to reflect on their own experiences in a world that can feel both blissful and disorienting.

I think at some point I may need to re-read this. I loved:- Los Angeles- G- Peking Duck- TomorrowI also really enjoyed Returning, but the end caught me super off guard. Lots of reviews have mentioned the lovely metaphors in several stories and I think my brain just was not processing them properly because I feel like maybe I was too stupid for some of them? But this is not the author's fault and I did really enjoy the book as a whole. Very weird and cerebral, not the kind of book you can skim (and not the kind of audiobook you can just "have in the background"). Would recommend.
