Descrição

Deep within a quiet burrow in the rolling hills of the Shire resides a hobbit named Bilbo Baggins, whose life takes an extraordinary turn. Unlike the other inhabitants who live a life of comfort and predictability, Bilbo is swept into an adventure that propels him far from home. Accompanied by a group of thirteen dwarves and the mysterious wizard Gandalf, Bilbo embarks on a quest to reclaim a treasure guarded by the fearsome dragon Smaug.

As he traverses through breathtaking landscapes and encounters formidable creatures, Bilbo discovers not only the harsh realities of the world outside his cozy hobbit hole but also the strength and courage he never knew he possessed. The journey challenges his understanding of bravery, friendship, and what it truly means to be a hero.

Along the way, Bilbo finds himself in situations filled with danger and intrigue, ultimately shaping him into a key player in a larger saga. The tale blends whimsy with profound themes of growth and adventure, making it a timeless classic that captures the imagination of readers young and old.

One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all and in the darkeness bind them

In ancient times the Rings of Power were crafted by the Elven-smiths, and Sauron, The Dark Lord, forged the One Ring, filling it with his own power so that he could rule all others. But the One Ring was taken from him, and though he sought it throughout Middle-earth, it remained lost to him. After many ages it fell into the hands of Bilbo Baggins, as told in The Hobbit.

In a sleepy village in the Shire, young Frodo Baggins finds himself faced with an immense task, as his elderly cousin Bilbo entrusts the Ring to his care. Frodo must leave his home and make a perilous journey across Middle-earth to the Cracks of Doom, there to destroy the Ring and foil the Dark Lord in his evil purpose.

I struggled with rating this because I don't think this is a graphic novel. It's an art book with Tolkien's words placed over them. It's beautiful, and a good story because The Hobbit is fantastic. But I couldn't help thinking that I would have enjoyed an actual adaptation of the novel rather than what this was. I would have really enjoyed seeing the artist showing us the story, and not just illustrating scenes and telling us what's happening. It almost seemed like a waste of time, to be honest, to read these huge paragraphs placed over illustrations. Near the end I just skipped them altogether, since I already know the story very well, and just flipped through looking at the art. I enjoyed it better that way.
