Ruby really cannot catch a break 😭. Every time I think things are finally getting better for her, something else happens and I'm sitting here wondering how this woman is still functioning.
I liked this volume more because we finally start seeing more cracks in Izek's whole cold-ass exterior. Their relationship is still painfully slow, but there are little moments where you can see that he actually cares about her, even if the man would rather die than communicate properly.
Ruby is still my favorite part. I love how much of her behavior comes from fear and trauma rather than her just being the stereotypical "weak and helpless" heroine. She wants to survive, but she also genuinely wants to protect the people around her.
The problem is that the misunderstandings and constant suffering can get exhausting. Like PLEASE let this girl breathe for five minutes.
Still really enjoying it though.
