Loved the characters, loved the premise, loved the pictures, loved this book!
First time reading this book and I loved it. I watched the movie when it came out and fell in love then when I found out there was more to the story I had to buy the series to find out what happened.
Though the book is very slow i enjoyed reading every page of it. Definitely recommended.
I wish the movie was more accurate! I loved this story and can't wait to read more. It could get a bit dull, but later on those dull parts start to make sense with the plot. Incredible descriptors that puts you right in the story!
I am confused by a lot of the negative reviews as I really enjoyed this book. With its 'magical realism', the story had me hooked right the way through especially with the links to the war. The atmosphere was created marvellously by the amazing photos and glad that these worked on my ebook.I am looking forward to reading the next book although I am slightly apprehensive because it seems that alot of the mystery has been explained (though I may be proved wrong) and it has the potential to go too far into the realms of fantasy - I prefer the majority set in real life with a hint of the 'peculiar'). It is also a shame that the characters are off to London. I would have preferred them to stay somewhere different such as staying in Wales for example (I'm not Welsh but it just that too many stories are London-centric). Nevertheless and excellent start to the series.
