4 starsIt gets better. It never gets easy, but it does start to hurt a little less.This book is only 173 pages and I really enjoyed all 173 pages of it. It was so magical, yet so creepy. I loved the whole concept of the book. I didn't care that it was 173 pages, I wish there was more, but I still loved it. All the characters were amazing, the diversity and the representation was so good, hands down amazing! I loved all the characters, especially Jack. In such a short book the world building was really interesting amd it got straight to the point, at times it did tend to be a little confusing. I actually really liked the murder mystery element of the book as well, that added a bit of suspense, although it was quite obvious. The writing style was so good as well, I loved it a lot. I can't wait to read the second book.Edit: 3.5 stars
This series was sooo hyped, I was afraid to even try to read it. Turns out, now I'll have to stop myself from binging every book that's been released so far.
“Every Heart a Doorway” is the first book in a series, but can be read as a standalone. This book was incredibly fun and wickedly whimsical. The book is short (under 200 pages) which makes it perfect for any reader looking for an easy-to-binge novel or a palette cleanser. I loved the diversity and distinct personalities of the cast of characters, including an a-sexual main character and a trans side character. The banter between characters cracked me up several times. There is some gore in this novel that some readers may be uncomfortable with, so please read trigger warnings.
I absolutely LOVE this story and world!! I'm so HYPED to continue the series!!!! :D
