Brilliant. Just brilliant. This book completely made me believe I was Harry and that I was living through him. It helped me forget about my own worries and dive into the magical world. I cried during the Sirius death chapter, obviously. Harry's emotions were amazingly written and I related to him so much that it's incomprehensible. It deeply showed how he's human and he had feelings too. Unlike in the movies where I felt that his actual personality was not captured completely. The movies barely scratched the surface of the magical feeling in the books and I'll never stop saying that. Thanks to the books, I actually got a clear understanding of the prophecy and why Harry had been going through the torment.
The movie didn't do this book justice, I love the action that goes on in this book. McGonagall is so funny in this book.

Great book and definitely worth reading. Didn't read the appendices though. This has to be one of the few books with such intricate world building. The appendices cover vast amounts of lore.
So, this is an obvious re-read. No matter my own personal opinions of the author, this series was a huge part of my childhood and growing up, and as an adult it is still such a huge part of my life. I have always enjoyed reading the books and feel like you can take things in more, the older you are and the more times you read.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone was a fantastic introduction to the Wizarding World. My favorite part was the journey to protect the Sorcerer's Stone and the twists that came with it. Harry and Hagrid were my favorite characters, and I enjoyed watching the friendships and relationships develop throughout the story. The worldbuilding was excellent and made Hogwarts feel like a place I wanted to visit. The opening chapters before Hogwarts were the slowest part of the book, but they were necessary to set up the story. Overall, it was a fun, memorable read that left me excited to continue the series.

It was really funny and the story and plotline was super interesting. You can just tell that the next books in this series become better and better.
5 stars (and more)Fear of a name increases fear of the thing itself.Re-reading Harry Potter in the illustrated version makes it even more magical and amazing. The illustrations made my eyes teary. Everything in this book is perfect and I love it so much, from the characters, to the storyline to the writing.
Another harry potter classic loved every second. Page-turning all the way through. Answered lots of question and explained more about professors Snape's and harry potter's past.A sad loss for Sirius Black, I almost thought Dumbledore would die too, but I think he is going to die in the next book.So excited to watch the movie!!!I am going to take a break and then read the next book. Reading harry potter with an actual book is way better than an e-book.
This book has always been my favourite and the series but this read through has left me slightly bored halfway through. Which has never happened to me before the Harry Potter. Maybe it's just my age, that I am no longer quite the Harry Potter fan that I used to be. I guess I have read many more books and I find myself less forgiving or JK Rowlings clunky writing. The amount of time the characters either flush or hiccough gets slightly tedious. Also, I kind of wanted to read it to see if I could get past the fact that JK Rowling is a massive TERF. And it does stick in your teeth that she bites about treating everyone fairly and equally and love when she herself is picky and choosey over who she applies this to. Yes, you could argue that it is her opinion and she's entitled to have it. But if her opinion was that she didn't like black people, People might have a different opinion on that. At the moment it is still perfectly ok to dislike transgender people and be open about it. So I read it again. Partly because I felt sad that I would lose a part of my childhood just because I disagreed with who she had become. And I felt cross because I wanted to introduce my children to Harry Potter. So I wanted to see if I could read it without it sticking in my throat too much. After all, Harry Potter is by far bigger than the author now. And yes I still enjoyed it but I do think I found more critical towards it.
