I like it.But,I find it slow-paced,somehow boring sometimes especially in the beginning. As a result,I didn't want to continue reading, but I did it and it turned out to be far better than I expected. And toward the end it became what I really want to read. Most of the time when I read a sequel I have this feeling.Especially in this case,Hunger Games is really awesome in comparison with its sequel.
Honestly this was my favorite of the series. It had good romance, action, distress, and intriguing details to keep us intrigued.
It's been over a decade since I first read this series. I picked the series up again because I finally got my hands on copies of The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and Sunrise on the Reaping. This book is just as good as the first time I read it. It's slightly less action-packed than the first book but boy isn't it more emotional. There's more trauma, more angst and Finnick Odair. I'm just glad this is a reread and I can jump straight into the next book after that cliffhanger!
Not going to lie I remember having so much love for this book. Either way I love the book.
I felt like although I loved the story, the writing with a little off from the last book. it was almost as if her editor made her cut out parts of the book because it was too long.
Really good, once again great plot, pacing, and writing style. A lot of scenes that we were robbed of in the movies, specifically before the games
I like this book so much more than the first one. Once it got going I couldn't stop reading it, practically finishing it in less than 24 hours. It seemed a bit funny to me how it must look from the perspective of someone experiencing this story for the first time to have no mention of Games happening for a good 150 pages of this book. And then not have them start until page 300, with only a bit more 100 pages left in the book. There were 8 people left when the book was only a few chapters before the end, at that point, I hoped everyone has pieced together that the ending wouldn't be like in the first book. The plot. I loved the plot. Even though I have watched the movies at least 5 times, my hair stood on edge while reading this book and I could think of nothing else even when I took a break from reading it. You could feel all the character's emotions right off the page, all that anger and sorrow and desperation. Even knowing every turn this story would take, somehow I was still surprised by them. Also surprised about how Katniss didn't catch on to some clues earlier, like the Mockingjay watch on Plutarch. I guess it's easier to understand if you're removed from the story and have experienced it a few times. The design of the Games themselves was amazing. Down to the last detail, the descriptions were so realistic. It probably helps to have the movie, but I still see how well written this book was and how much detail went into it. Also, I don't know if we're supposed to like Finnick in this book, but I did. I. HATE. the. Gale. thing. WITH ALL MY BEING.I get REALLY uncomfortable whenever there's Gale and I HATE him! I also, lowkey kinda hate Katniss for ever thinking she would have feelings for the idiot because she doesn't and you can tell by the narration of the book. At least not that kind. I do believe she loves him, as a dear childhood friend. Not as anything else, her saying that to herself made me so so mad. I don't think Katniss was interested romantically in anyone really. She shouldn't be. She's been through hell. She just wants someone to stand by her, and since Peeta has gone through the same trauma he is a good person to stand in and help her. But I don't think she ever liked him either, at least not that way. WHY COULDN'T WE HAVE SKIPPED THIS PART SUZANNE?
This book ended up being really good. I had started reading it a couple months ago but I couldn't get into it because I thought the beginning was really boring, so I quit reading it. But then a couple months later I decided to try it again. It was hard to get through the part I gave up on at first, but once I got to the heart of the book it got really good and really interesting! Can't wait to read Mocking Jay! (which I just got for Christmas)
