View AllThe first half of this book almost made me give up. It’s slow-placed, nothing interesting happened, and I had no idea where the plot was leading. I had already planned to give this book only 3 stars. That was before my jaw dropped in the last few chapters. WHAT? HOW? WHY? I didn’t expect the book will be really twisted! And of course, I had stop myself from bawling my eyes out. What happened to Kokoro and others children is absolutely awful. But maybe that’s also the reason they find each other, become friends, and realize that they’re not alone in this world. Anyway, I love how Mizuki Tsujimura connected all of the characters. Lonely Castle in the Mirror brings out many issues: bullying, mental health, grief, the important role of parents and family in the life of children. Besides that, the book also delivers heartwarming messages of friendship and growing up.
