(Before GR) Will always been in my top favorite books ever. The first book to really blow my mind and make my jaw drop. I’d never felt more deceived and I loved it.

Få kan ha undgått Gone Girl, som sedan en tid även går som film på landets biografer. Historien om hur en mans fru plötsligt försvinner har varit en succé både som bok och på den vita duken.En av orsakerna till bokens succé är upplägget; Frun försvinner i början av boken och vi får följa hur mannen hanterar det. Samtidigt får vi läsa en dagbok skriven av frun som visar att allting inte verkar vara som det ska. Boken är full av vändningar och är en riktig bladvändare. Tyvärr är slutet inte lika bra som boken i övrigt. Förhoppningsvis beror det på en allt för övertygande lektör, och inte författarens ursprungliga idé.Mycket läsvärd dock.
This book blew my mind and completely messed with me. At first, it seemed like a simple missing wife story, but it quickly turned into something much darker. The twists were insane, and nothing was ever what I expected.Nick and Amy are both so messed up that, in the end, I felt like they deserved each other. Every choice they made had consequences, and that’s what made the story so disturbing but also so fascinating.I also liked how the book explores relationships, media influence, and how people create different versions of themselves. It’s not just a thriller, it really makes you think.Gillian Flynn’s writing is addictive, and the way she plays with perspective is brilliant. It’s one of those books that stays with you long after you finish it. If you like psychological thrillers, you need to read this.
I've really gotta stop taking recommendations from tiktok because every time, the books end up being absolute dog shit. I could not get past more than ¾ of this because every character was pissing me off, the writing was shit and the plot was BORING. Nothing happens for most of this. Looked up the plot twist because everyone hyped it up and it's the most predictable, overdone thing I have ever seen. People are just reading anything and calling it 5 stars...
First half, I would rate it a 3, second half a 4, third half 3.5 so overall 3.5. Lot's of shifts on the perspective and overall pretty interesting
What an incredible read! I never saw that twist coming. Although I had seen short clips from the movie, there were still many aspects that were new to me, and I enjoyed it a lot. This book offers a whole new perspective on toxic relationships, even though it was published more than ten years ago!
Just finished "Gone Girl" by Gillian Flynn and holy shit, what a ride! This book is absolutely insane in the best way possible. I couldn't put it down - it was like a crazy binge-reading session from start to finish.Even though I saw the movie ages ago (like 10-11 years back), I barely remembered the plot. But man, this book had me hooked. The story is so gripping and intense, it kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. Flynn's writing is just *chef's kiss* - amazing.The characters? Totally fucked up, but in a brilliant way. I mean, "Amazing Amy"? More like Psycho Amy, am I right? But that's what makes it so good. The suspense had me going "what the actual fuck" every other page.Now, I gotta be real - it did drag a tiny bit in the middle. But honestly, that's just me nitpicking. The ending? Perfection. It wrapped up in a way that left me both satisfied and slightly disturbed (in a good way, if that makes sense).Overall, this book was a total mindfuck, and I loved every second of it. Solid 4.5 stars out of 5 from me. If you're into thrillers that'll mess with your head, "Gone Girl" is a must-read. Just be prepared to lose sleep because you won't want to stop reading!
⭐️3It's a perfectly fine book.There were some aspects of this book I liked and some I didn't. Putting it into bullet points would be easier.Things I liked:- The alternate POVs (Nick's present-day account and Amy's past diary entries), particularly Amy's past diary entries.- Second half of this book was quite enjoyable, and I flew through it like there was no tomorrow- The plot twist was fine, not offensive, just fineThings I disliked/wasn’t keen on:- Reading from Nick's POV, most of the time truly didn't bring me any joy, since he was a hard character to like or even feel sorry for- Towards the end, this book dragged on, and I desperately wanted it to end- This book's ending, to put it briefly, was just...meh- The first half of this book was uneventful and slow. There isn't a single thing I could tell you about this book's first half. Overall, an okay-ish mystery thriller, but it is in no way memorable or stands out in comparison to other mystery thrillers I've read.
There were so many quotes I love in this book, one of my favorite which I really need to tell you guys is this: 1. It's a very difficult era in which to be a person, just a real, actual person, instead of collection of personality traits selected from an endless automat of characters. And if all of us are play-acting, there can be no such thing as a soulmate, because we don't have genuine soul. 2. It has gotten to the point where it seemed like nothing matters, because I'm not real person nor anyone else. 3. Love makes you want to be a better man, but real love gives you permission to be the man who you are. 4. I change personalities, what persona feels good, i think most people do this, they don't just admit it. 5. Men actually think this cool girl exists. Maybe they're fooled because so many women are willing to pretend to be this girl. Cool girl who is basically the girl who likes everything he likes and doesn't ever complain pretty soon, cool girl became the standard girl. She was not a dreamgirl but every girl supposed to be like this and if they are not, then something is wrong with them! This are the quotes I've annotated. Gist from my side:Amy is one of a clever, rich and cool type of girl who loves her husband devotedly. She met Nick, her husband to be, in a club and fell in love. They got married and stayed in New York, Nick and Amy had this inside jokes that only they can understand. They were good to each other, not like her friends and their dancing monkeys (husband). She gave him his freedom. But things never go always right. They both lost their jobs. And Nick's mother was suffering from cancer, Nick was depressed, he asked and brought her to Missouri, his hometown. Amy started to compromise her lifestyle from New York to Missouri, which was not easy for her. But things went more wrong in their 5th anniversary, when her husband Nick returned to home, Amy was missing.The plot starts from here. This part is from Amy's diary. There are three POVs: Amy's diary, Nick and yes Amy's.Nick is an easy, fine wife loving guy but had a very disturbing experience in past. His father had some conflicts with his mother and they end up divorcing. It has effected him very much. It had turned him to authority fearing person. He has always tried not to be like his father. He has always tried to convince people that he is a good decent guy. Nick has a twin sister Go, she has always support and love her in every aspects like any sister will do for her brother. Go is very defensive with Men for her father. Nick is loved by all in his town Missouri. Disclaimer: ((the next paragraph is my experience. I might end up giving the spoiler, I'll try not to but read in your own risk.))This novel, Gone girl has surprised me. Everytime, I try to guess the next situation, I end up thinking exactly the opposite. It has made me think and question myself every time I pause for a break. I'm sure that everyone who had read this book has same thing on their mind- Would I be doing the same thing? What will I do? I've tried to put myself into every situations she or he has gotten into, the answers are something like- no way, maybe, maybe not. Is she sane? Am I sane? I end up questioning myself again. It literally shook my mind and my soul. There were times when I cried for Amy, felt sympathy towards her and I felt an utter disliking for Nick. But turning and reading more few pages, I was staggered. All the feelings were gone. Instead of being sympathetic towardsAmy, I was scared of her. I was scared for Nick. I felt stupid to hate Nick. There is a quote in the front page of the book: there are two sides to every story. This is indeed true, before forming an opinion about somebody, we should know their story. Just because other side has more convincing story, it doesn't mean they've done the better job. The writing style is easy and everyone can read it without a dictionary. You know what I mean right! And the author!! Salute to you ma'am ! You really took me to a wild rollercoaster ride ! Thankyousomuch for writing this marvelous book. I can't stop myself fangirling. Thankyousomuch ! I'm not sure if this novel is my best read of 2020. I've read so many good books this year that it's not easy to choose one. But still it will be one of my favorite. This book has made me think all the time I pause after every twists. I'll always remember it, it will stay close to my heart.
A classic I felt compelled to read. A little long for what it is, but it picked up once we started getting to know the true Amy. Hilarious and psychotic. Definitely give it a go.
What attracted me to this book is that it felt very real. How many times do you not find yourself in a "I really want to disappear " situation. I wouldn't say the extent a normal person would go to is even comparable to the one our girl gone does in the book, but it's there.
