View AllI listened to the audio version read by Hugh Fraser.By his reading he gave life to the characters.I really like the way he read the book. After listening to the book,I watched the TV series.I think the book is much better.
Another masterpiece from the queen of detective and mystery fiction! The usual amount of suspense, secrecy, and riddles. And yet there are many other ways to read and enjoy this work as something more than just a detective novel; one of them is the World War despair. The events are set in England during World War 1 at Styles Court, and mirror the alienation resulting from the universal armed struggle along with its subsequent impact on social relations. The war had played havoc with order. The emotional void and material aspect of the new world seemed to annihilate all the ties uniting people, which resulted in money-driven relationships and crimes like the one committed by Alfred and Mary against Mrs. Inglethorp.
