This is the continuation of the Bear and the Nightingale, and it manages to be just as heartbreaking and dark as the first. The old gods are dying, and people and other gods are there to try and take their place. Somehow, Vasya manages to take the hardest path every time, and still keeps fighting. I love this series and its characters so much, and I am excited to read the next in the series.
