It's got more mature themes and wording that the previous series. A tonal shift to something darker but not overall heartbreaking for each character, which is something I had to watch out for because this author makes her characters SUFFER. Overall the mystery that's in my world building has me coming back for more.

DNF of 2025stopped 114 pages out of 829I loved this author years back, saw I missed a series and decided to grab this. Its so long winded and draw out, even over 100 pages in and I could care less for the world and characters in it. 7 view points already shown, with a ton of 'tell don't show' made it feel like a bad HBO series of all talking and nothing happening.I plan to maybe pick this up again next year, see if I can get into it, but it was too slow, and life is too short, to drag along at this current point.
