Saya berekspektasi tinggi waktu mau baca buku ini, dengan tagline "Worldwide Best Seller" nya, yg berarti setidaknya, bagi banyak orang, ini bukan buku yg mengecewakan (karena laris di seluruh dunia).
Tapi setelah membaca 100 halaman pertama, ternyata lumayan, lumayan membosankan. Ok mungkin setelah ada konflik nanti bakal seru.
Ternyata setelah kelar baca, momen seru dan menarik (seenggaknya bagi saya) itu gak muncul². Memang di beberapa bab ada bagian yg sedikit emosional, tapi malah di momen puncak yg harusnya epic malah jadi flat dan.. Begitu aja.
Premisnya nyeritain soal Amir, seorang anak orang kaya yg tinggal di Afghanistan, yg bersahabat dengan Hassan, anak pelayan di rumah Amir. Persahabatan mereka begitu dekat sampai ada 1 hal yg ngebuat.. Ah nanti spoiler. Silahkan baca sendiri, free di ipusnas, copyannya juga banyak.
Disini cuma ada 1 pov, yaitu Amir sebagai pov orang pertama.
Sebenernya buku ini dibilang jelek juga nggak, cuma gak sesuai ekspektasi saya aja ceritanya.

This book was only okay. I couldn't connect with any of the characters and I can't really explain why, but I just didn't like it that much. Khaled Hosseini's second book, [b:A Thousand Splendid Suns|128029|A Thousand Splendid Suns|Khaled Hosseini|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1345958969s/128029.jpg|3271379] was really good and he is a good writer but this story just wasn't for me.

For you, a thousand times over. The first time I read it, it hitted me hard. Reading this sentence made me cry. I was crying over Hassan's love for Amir, Amir's insecurity and desperation for his father's love and both of their brutal fate. I wish I could go into the scene and hug them both, make them understand. I do believe in fate. I couldn't blame Amir for betraying Hassan and Hassan doesn't even deserved that fate, he never blamed Amir though he knew what he did. I was cursing Amir to be Cowardish and couldn't even stand for his only friend. I had a mixed feeling. The story goes on. Amir grew, I thought he would understand his fault, he would go to his friend and apologize or atleast have a get together but he was still that childish Amir. Well, ironic is that this is the actual truth. No one will accept their fault. The book will make you witness a real scenario and a whole different perspective. The book will atleast have a good impact in your life and I would suggest people with strong heart to read this book. I'm weak hearted, emotional person. I've cried over everything silently. Although I've read three books of Khaled hosseini's and I cried reading all the three books. My fav is always A thousand splendid suns. That was the first book I read from this Author but I'll suggest everyone to read Khaled hosseini books. Well all his books will squeeze your emotions out and you'll be shattered and wrenched, feeling empty. But as @bewitched_reader said, that's what makes the book more beautiful. .The kite runner is a heartbreaking story of two friends. Two childhood friends Amir and Hassan. The book was written in Amir's pov. Here you'll know about Afghanistan and the lifestyles. Amir was one of the Rich kid you can say where they get everything they asks for, and Hassan was the son of his father's servant, poor and low caste. Despite differences, they were good friends, inseparable. Amir used to read stories for Hassan. They used to spend the winter days playing at home and they used to climb on that pomegranate tree where they scribble their name. Eventually Amir felt jealous of Hassan, Amir's father trusted Hassan more than Amir. He started feeling envy of Hassan. ..well Amir and Hassan were good with kites. There was a big competition coming on, and Amir wanted this opportunity to win both the trophy and his father's heart. Hassan was a good kite runner. Hassan promised Amir that he'll bring back that blue kite but something happened to Hassan on his way and Amir witnessed all of it. And didn't stand for his only friend. His relation with his father became good after that match but things were never same with Amir and Hassan. Amir took a wrong step and all of them had to suffer. But the story doesn't end here. Read the masterpiece. .The first word Hassan learned to speak was Amir. And I was crying over this. How strong and kind Hassan was. I was thinking if I were Hassan, what would I've done? Hassan forgave his friend, Hassan still loved and yearned for his friend but would I?. No, I guess but the book is all about love, friendship, forgiveness, wars, family, relationship etcetra and etcetera. It made me think about the world, the people, the wars, the crimes, the unheard stories, the illiterate people, current situation. 💔Well if I could just save anyone, I would have Saved Hassan in the first day. I rarely do a re-read time but I would love to pick it up again and cry.
Me hizo sufrir tanto este libro, por lo que necesitaba darle las 5 estrellas por la cantidad de emociones que me hizo pasar.
